Enjoy Yourself

A topic that I realize has been very under-represented on my blog is the enjoyment that can be ascertained by playing video games.

If you don't have any positive feelings for a game that you are playing, then you probably shouldn't continue playing it. Too many people will find a game they dislike, and proceed to trudge through however many hours before finally throwing it down in disgust after completion.

These people are going about their play in entirely the wrong way. A game is meant to provide some sense of fun in the Player; that fun can be created through the story, the visuals, the challenge, or whatever the designers thought would work best.

When the end user is presented with that work, only some will be pleased with the end result. Those that do like the game will enjoy it to the fullest, playing however they like. The people that dislike the game won't enjoy what is presented to them, and are rightfully entitled to their opinions.

However, when the people that don't like a game continue to play long after realizing their own unhappiness, are only building up a cache of negative feelings that could affect them or their lives in who knows what ways.

The important thing is to try out as many games as you like, but only devote yourself to a particular game if you can find something positive to take away with you after every gaming session.
