In most games, you need to be quick on your feet. The action can be chaotic and frantic, leaving the Player with little choice but to be just as frantic to keep up.
It's easy to get caught up with this fast pace. You can play through most games with reckless abandon, never stopping to even think about your next move, and still get through them all right.
There are some challenges, however, that require a different tact. These are the obstacles that most gamers are ill equipped to handle, if and when they bring the same mindset of fast-paced, balls to the wall action to the table.
Sometimes, what a gamer really needs is patience.
If you've almost mastered a skill, or maybe you're on the cusp of beating the extra hard difficulty, perhaps you just need to find the opportune moment. Whatever it is, patience is the key.
Knowing when to restrain yourself is a skill that will evolve naturally as your capacity for patience grows. The two skills are inexorably intertwined, and with good reason. Many a gamer has completely lost their shit, thrown a controller or two, and attempted to swear a game into submission just because they lack some patience.
The best way to improve your patience is to remember that clear heads clear levels. Being angry or frustrated will only lead to poor gameplay, and even poorer decisions. You need only think about failure as a learning experience, bringing you further along the path to mastery.
It takes some time to get right, but when you do, you can accomplish almost any feat that you set your mind to.
